AAVSDXBLAB is a platform set up to encourage an interdisciplinary mode of operation, where participants and tutors work collaboratively. The pavilion design and construction will emerge as a result of a continuous conversation between the units.
We encourage people of all ages and backgrounds pertaining to architecture, technology, engineering, art and design. Please read this requirment page carefully, It is a general requirment that you will be able to work long hours for the success of this project.
MATERIAL COMPOSITES
You will join this unit if you are:
-Interested in developing novel ecologies through the use of innovative material science
-Would like to know about how form could influence the performance of materials.
-Interested in the potential of composite materials.
-Willing to work between physical and digital models to evaluate your results
-Have a general interest in handcraft and construction
-Like to work with your hands: sewing, working with fabrics and tensile membranes.
ROBOTIC RECURSION
You will join this unit if you are:
- Interested in tinkering with robotic arms
- A maker: someone who likes building their own things instead of buying them
- Comfortable with Rhino and Grasshopper basics (equivalent to Level 1 training)
- Interested to learn novel fabrication skills to contribute to the overall project.
SCAFFOLDING FABRICATION
You will join this unit if you are:
- Comfortable with design and making of 1:1 prototypes
- Comfortable with digital fabrication tools or keen to learn them.
- Skilled in using hand and power tools.
- Skilled in 3D modelling in Rhinoceros (equivalent to Level 1 training)
- Comfortable with basics of grasshopper.
COMPUTATIONAL SIMULATION
You will join this unit if you are:
- Skilled in 3D modeling in Rhinoceros OR other 3D tool (equivalent to Level 1 training)
- Comfortable with the basics of Grasshopper
- Comfortable with the construction of geometry and topology
- Interested in learning algorithmic strategies applied to architecture
- Interested in an open-ended use of mathematics, computation and performance.
